TUK has closed!

Today is a sad day.

An older region, started way back in 2006, has now officially closed. I am talking about The United Kingdom, otherwise more commonly known as TUK. Governor-General Gryffyn had formally announced her resignation of her position, citing her disagreement with his methods of power seizure. She has however, gone to great lengths to not condemn his rights to claim his throne, as founder. It should be noted that Gryffyn is also a founder of a region. Shortly afterwards, George declared a hiatus for TUK, and has taken the boards offline.

It simply reads, "The United Kingdom, 2006 - 2010"

Many elements of the resistance against George have already claimed victory. While that may or may not be so, NS Blogger would like to take time to note that today, a once great region collapsed. It will be mourned, but NS will rise from its ashes and continue. We wish all former TUK residents the best of luck in all future endeavours.

TNI revises position!

The New Inquisition has released an official statement to their embassies abroad. For those that do not have an embassy with TNI, NS Blogger has provided a copy of the statement here:

While we applaud King George's efforts against the FRA and his efforts to make TUK a raider region, we cannot support tyrannical abuse of power of any kind. Therefor, the government of TNI wishes to make the following statement: Either King George immediately unbans any citizen of TUK who is not a proven member of the FRA, or TNI withdraws any and all support from the region, be that advisory, administratively, military or of any other kind.
If King George shows himself to be a benign ruler by complying with our demands, we are willing to help him restore democracy within TUK and make it a region it's citizens can feel safe and at home again.

The government of TNI also wishes to apoligize for its previous statement. We had only received partial information - information that has since been completed, and we were able to revise our opinion on the situation since then. (Statement by Tyranna Lucina Anumia, Acting Reich Chancellor)
This poses the question: Was this an act entirely orchestrated by King George? Did he have support from TNI? Or is TNI simply making use of a situation? NS Blogger has so far determined the following: It appears that the majority of TNI was not privy to the circumstance or plan, if indeed there was a plan. After further investigations deeper into the, as coined by TNI, victory against the FRA, it seems that universal abhorrence of King George's methods also exist in TNI itself.

Regardless, NS Blogger has found it difficult to find anybody endorsing King George's methods of power seizure. Perhaps it's time for a "Free the Protestors, restore freedom of speech!" campaign? As of now, the cooling off period King George enforced on all protestors within TUK has exceeded his stipulated 48 hours. They are still in prison. At least the NS equivalent of prison anyway.

One such protestor bemoaning, "I had my pitchforks lined up and everything, I bet he's stolen my pitchforks!"

Coup in TUK!

The United Kingdom, better known as TUK has undergone a major power shift. TUK was formerly a region that sided with the raiders of NS. However, after King George the VII abdicated the throne, the region began a move towards the opposite spectrum of the military. Eventually, TUK became a defender region and completed a fair amount of successful defender ops. Some would say that TUK was flourishing with activity and political excitement. However, some disagreed. In particular, King George disagreed and has said that TUK had moved towards a direction that did not parallel his ideals.

The former King used his founder powers to dethrone the then present King PASD. In addition, he removed the Government from power. With support from the Government and Kaiserin Viktoria von Hohenzollern of TNI (aka. Viktoria Gryfynn, or Viktoria Somerset), he has established his agenda in the view of rebuilding TUK with his ideals.

The Proposed Government

King George has proposed the following initial Government:

King: George (Conservative UK)
Governor General: Viktoria Somerset
Prime Minister: Sir Reg Empey
Lord High Chancellor: Harold Vorn
WA Delegate: Great British Islands

Sir Reg Empey, Harold Vorn, and Great British Islands have not accepted their positions. It remains to be see what King George decides to do next, as he has yet to return to the boards due to the holiday period.

Response

Regional response has been widespread, with the majority of members of TUK banding together to form a government in exile with the intent to negotiate with King George. However, it appears that the general perception is that negotiations are futile. It does not appear that King George will budge from this wishes to reform TUK as a raider region. In addition, he has spoken of his dismay of the political climate of TUK. As such, it appears the goverment in exile and its membership will seek to move elsewhere to further their NS lives.

The New Inquisition, otherwise known as TNI, has applauded the proposed stance change from defender to raider. Some calling it, "Victory against the FRA (Founderless Regions Alliance)." However, there appears to be a clash within TNI between the more prominent members and the Government. Particularly with the methods deployed against TUK. The general concensus is that the events can only be good tidings for TNI, however many are loathe to applaud the methods utilised by King George of TUK to establish peace. The government in exile has been in protest for the past week, however King George has made moves to suppress the protests. Protestors are calling it a gross violation of their rights, whilst King George maintains that he only intends to establish a cooling off period.

Europeia has backed the government in exile with a statement made by President Common-Sense Politics. An excerpt of major points follows:

"We will not idly stand by and say "it's not our problem", for our community will always stand on the side of freedom, democratic government, and self-determination as do the good members unjustly displaced from their homeland. We will always stand up and be counted, condemning tyranny and offering a helping hand to our friends.

Therefore, this government will suspend relations with the physical region of TUK and recognize the authority of those in exile as the legitimate government of that region. Here and now we condemn the actions of George and see them for what they are, a unilateral and despicable destruction of the liberty of his countrymen. This situation is regrettable.
We, as a government support the pursuit of reform and improvement which George has claimed to seek. We support the rights of a regional founder to take an active role in administering said region. However, the members in whom their fellow citizens have placed their trust to lead them have an equal right to play a role in that pursuit. A region ultimately belongs to its populace, not one man."
It also appears that the Kodiak Republic's Chancellor Silmeria has also frozen relations with TUK and is monitoring the situation. An excerpt of major points follows:

"I have grave news to announce today. TUK has suffered an un-democratic and definitely hostile takeover. The founder of TUK, George, who is also the root admin, had made a return. This return escalated into him declaring himself Monarch, and then proceeding to ban dissenters, including the usurped King PASD.
This entirely undemocratic and oppressive actions, is completely unacceptable and unbecoming of a founder. I hereby declare, that I will freeze foreign relations and monitor the situation."

As yet, there is no response from King George himself. NS Blogger will continue to monitor events as they happen!
